This Road

I tread this road upon my heel

On horse-back rode and on a wheel

And every time I traverse its track

It makes me want to come back

This road to my farm leads

Its green grass my horse feeds

Its tall trees offer shade so cool

To the weary traveller and wandering fool

The one I took to school without fail

It holds the memories of a happy trail

Its many puddles scattered in-between

Give croaking frogs their sunscreen

This road so broad and no divide

This road to free world all can ride

This road from my heart arise

It’s covered by the heavenly skies

In common talk and folklore

Few sages have travelled on it before

This road you travel before demise

It’s watched by God and his allies

It passes through vale o’er mountain high

It catches the breath and spark of eye

No toll booths or cameras to spy

Frost, tis still the road less travelled by
