I Simmer

Last longer so I don’t burn

I slow down

Not much though

I am a runner by nature

Taught never to look over my shoulder

Unless I want to relinquish

The first spot

The one that spots me first

The one I distinguish

In whose search I thirst

And run ever so hard leaving all behind

And much in dust

I must

Of course get my second wind first

A timely hint

This is a marathon

Not a short sprint

And because the distance

Is so long , almost eternal

I cannot exhaust all fuel fast

To the end I must last

And therefore cannot

Glow and burn in those large flames

A smaller wick perhaps will suffice

May make it dimmer

But I might still retain the glimmer

Slowly as I simmer
