One Last Run

In mystic river of thy whim

Amidst golden fish where mermaids beguile

Where hope and dream together swim

Let me drown there for a while

And before my lungs with flood fill

Let me rise then to the brim

And float away as current will

To the sweet sound of a hermit’s hymn

And when I am done floating around

Then lift me up on the tallest mound

So I can hop on the clouds with ease

And race with the southern breeze

And when my time to race is done

Good bye’s said and loved ones kissed

Then spread my ashes one last run

To touch the things I may have missed
