The Wall

Its span so long my eye can’t reach

My piercing look fails to breach

The sturdy brick and stone layer

On Wailing Wall falls pilgrim’s prayer

It stares me down from high ground

My amazed look in silence so profound

I don’t know if it desires my mobility

As much as I envy its stability

And in falling sun my shadow risen

No dwarf as I lift over its prison

This one I see lies bare revealed

And one within myself remains concealed

This one my hammer can punch a hole

And one within, my emotions control

And as I remain within its bane

Each side lives a different insane

Matters not that it is so high

Its apogee still can’t clear the towering sky

And over it floats my zeppelin

And both sides of the wall were still Berlin
