On The Rocks

Serene at the shore

Quaint sense of calm

Mellow staring at the

Elegant row of palm

Not joyful, not pensive

Just a vacuous void

Waves on the offensive

The rocks stay deployed

Time ignores my lapse

Yet goes on to elapse

The tide wants to drown

The rocks won’t back down

Some castles washed

Some in distance stand

Only a matter of time

When all revert to sand

The frenzied waves

Fail to construe

Why castles fall

And rocks accrue

In ignorance they

Pack more punch

The rocks mock

A strong bunch

Through all day

On this goes

The rocks and waves

Exchange umpteen blows

In resignation

The waves recede

Requiring more momentum

To proceed

Lost pride

They want to redeem

Discussions to field

A stronger team

Light now

Losing its sheen

The waves in

Secrecy convene

The tide getting

Ready to push

In darkness a plan

For a final ambush

All night long

The waves now strong

Hitting high and hard

The rocks they maraud

The sun comes up

The waves are awed

To see the rocks

That stand unflawed
