Feathered Wind

The grime of time

Worth every dime

Of experience

O' what price?

At what expense?

For a time now

I have been on the fence

But now I will

Break the ice

With some advice

For young birds

With baby feathers

In fledgling herds

That lack wisdom's tethers

Of what I've learnt

Now I will give

The wuthering winds

Like legends live

And before you soar

To take that flight

Make familiar

With wind's might

And in the reaches

Of your glide

Mark your niches

On every hillside

Before you're pinned

For this is where

You’ll catch your wind

And over oceans

As you fly

Ain’t no islands

In the sky

Mark your course

Before of course

And understand

Your need to land

What you lose

Lays buried

In victory’s blues

All that pain

Will come to question

Your case of gain

And only way

Will peace remain

If victor’s hood

Has common good

You may win

And sometimes fail

At times stronger

And sometimes weaker

And for the ones

Who now are younger

You will shine

Like a beacon

As broken feathers

From every rise

Will telltale

To prioritize

On how to keep

That wind

On your tail
